10 May
Summary
- Como's 1-0 win against Hellas Verona guarantees European competition.
- Tasos Douvikas scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute.
- This marks Como's first-ever qualification for a major European tournament.
Como has secured a place in European competition for the first time in the club's history following a narrow 1-0 victory against Hellas Verona. The win, sealed by Tasos Douvikas' 71st-minute strike, ensures the team will participate in continental football during the 2026-27 season.
Fabregas' squad is now in contention for a Champions League spot, currently sitting within two points of fourth-placed AC Milan. However, the club's European fate is not yet fully determined, with a place in the Europa League or another UEFA competition also a strong possibility depending on final league standings.
The decisive goal came from an error by Verona defender Andrias Edmundsson, which Douvikas capitalized on with a powerful shot. This marked another crucial contribution from Douvikas, who has been a consistent scorer throughout the season.
With only two games remaining, Como faces Parma and Cremonese. Securing a Champions League berth will likely require winning both matches and benefiting from potential dropped points by rivals above them in the table.
