In a kicker shakeup, the Washington Commanders have signed Jake Moody off the Chicago Bears' practice squad. Moody, a 2023 third-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers, was released by the team earlier this season after missing two field goals in Week 1.
The Commanders made the move after releasing their own kicker, Matt Gay, a day after he missed two field goals in the team's 16-13 loss to the Dolphins in Madrid. Moody has appeared in two games for the Bears this season, going 8-of-9 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra point attempts.
Prior to joining the Bears, Moody had a successful college career at Michigan, where he was 45-of-59 on field goals over his first two seasons. The Commanders are hoping the young kicker can provide more consistency as they push for a playoff spot in the second half of the season.
