Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris celebrated with fans in London by purchasing nearly $50,000 in free beer. The owner climbed atop a bar at a London establishment to announce the rounds of drinks, much to the delight of approximately 3,000 supporters.
This generous gesture occurred at a pre-game rally for the Commanders' matchup against the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fans, many of whom traveled internationally from countries like Germany and Holland, filled the bar, decorated with burgundy and gold balloons.
Harris stated that the cost was substantial but worth it, emphasizing that fans who travel across the ocean or wake up early to support the team deserve to be taken care of. He had previously bought drinks for fans during a team game in Madrid.
The rally fostered a festive atmosphere, with one superfan known as the "Washington Road Warrior" attending. The event also saw fans discussing their positive reception to the team incorporating a spear logo, a nod to a past helmet design, which the team reportedly aims to make permanent.
