Commanders' Luke McCaffrey Continues Family's NFL Legacy

The McCaffrey family has a storied history in the NFL, with 6 players across the league's history. Now, the youngest of the 4 brothers, Luke McCaffrey, is making his mark with the Washington Commanders.

Luke was a 3rd-round selection by the Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft. After starting his college career as a quarterback at Nebraska, he transitioned to wide receiver at Rice in 2021. This season, the 23-year-old has taken over as Washington's leading kick return specialist, a role he slowly built up towards the end of the 2024 campaign.

Through 5 games so far in 2025, Luke has also contributed 7 catches for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns as a receiver. His older brother, Christian McCaffrey, is currently the NFL's leading rusher with 444 receiving yards and 780 total yards from scrimmage. The two brothers have yet to face off on the field, as the Commanders and 49ers did not play each other in 2024 and are not scheduled to meet in 2025.
