Commanders Shake Up Coaching Staff: Coordinators Out
6 Jan
Summary
- Commanders are seeking new coordinators after parting ways with two.
- Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Whitt Jr. are no longer with the team.
- Defensive struggles marked the team's performance last season.
The Washington Commanders are undergoing a significant coaching staff overhaul, with both offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. departing the team. Kingsbury's exit comes after mutual discussions with head coach Dan Quinn, signaling a fresh direction for the offense.
Whitt, who joined the Commanders in February 2024, departs following a season where the team's defense faltered significantly. Washington ranked last in the NFL in total defense, allowing 384.3 yards per game, and struggled against the pass and in points allowed.
These changes come as the Commanders aim to improve their performance in the upcoming seasons. The departure of these key coordinators indicates a strategic shift, with the team expected to announce replacements to address the areas needing improvement.
