Colombian cyclist Cristian Camilo Munoz has died at the age of 30 due to complications from an accident during the Tour du Jura. He was being treated for a knee wound sustained in a crash on Saturday.
Following the incident in France, Munoz traveled with his team to Spain, where he was hospitalized with a severe infection. Despite the efforts of medical staff, his condition worsened, leading to his passing on Friday morning.
Munoz had a notable career, having previously been a rider for UAE Team Emirates from 2019 to 2021. He joined the NU Colombia Continental team in 2024. His past achievements include winning stages at the Clasica de Anapoima and Vuelta a Boyaca, as well as the mountains classification at the Clasico RCN.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) president, David Lappartient, expressed sorrow over Munoz's death, extending condolences to his loved ones and teammates.
