College Star's Life Cut Short on Sideline

William Jewell College is grappling with profound grief after junior running back MicahJo Barnet passed away. Barnet suffered a medical emergency on the sideline during the team's season-opening game against Fort Lewis College. The incident led to the immediate suspension of the game.

A vigil was scheduled for Saturday evening on the Jewell quad to commemorate the life of the promising athlete. The college's athletic department expressed condolences to Barnet's family, teammates, friends, and coaches.

Barnet, a business major, was recognized for his athletic achievements, including scoring a touchdown earlier in the game. He came from a large family and had a notable high school career, leading his team to a state title.
