Clemson Star Burley's Injury Status Unclear for 2026

As Clemson begins fall camp for the 2026 season, a key player on the defensive line, Vic Burley, is currently limited due to an unspecified injury. Burley, a fourth-year tackle, was observed in a non-contact jersey during recent practices. Head coach Dabo Swinney stated he was unsure about the injury's severity, labeling Burley as 'day-to-day' but anticipating his return before the September 5th season opener against LSU.

Burley, a highly-touted recruit who joined in 2023, has faced injury setbacks, including knee issues during his freshman season. Despite this, he has gradually become more prominent on defense, earning his first start in the Pinstripe Bowl last December. Expectations were high for a breakout year in 2026 following a strong spring performance that included 2.5 sacks.

The Tigers' defensive line depth is being tested, with additional players like Kourtney Kelly (torn ACL) and Hevin Brown-Shuler (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) also sidelined.
