- Turnovers and stalled offense cost Clemson in the loss.
Clemson's dominant nine-game winning streak and a nearly year-long home undefeated streak were halted Tuesday night by NC State, 80-76, in overtime. The loss marked a significant return for NC State head coach Will Wade, who previously served in various roles for Clemson.
Despite late pushes in regulation, including taking a brief lead, Clemson's offense faltered in overtime, scoring only two baskets. NC State capitalized on crucial free throws to secure the victory.
Ball security proved to be a critical issue for the Tigers, who committed 13 turnovers throughout the game, with several costly ones in the first half contributing to NC State's ability to build a lead. Clemson will now look to regroup as they prepare for their next game.
