Reid Updates on Simmons' Back, Welcomes Ezeudu

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that offensive lineman Josh Simmons is dealing with a lower back injury, stating "there was a spot in there that flared up" and they are waiting for it to calm down. Simmons is undergoing rehabilitation, but a definitive return timeline has not been established.

Despite Simmons' absence, other offensive linemen performed well during practice. Reid also discussed the recent acquisition of Joshua Ezeudu, who was traded to the Chiefs from the New York Giants on August 25, 2026. Ezeudu, a former third-round draft pick, adds significant versatility to the offensive line, having experience playing both guard and tackle.

Ezeudu is currently adapting to the Chiefs' system, including snap counts, play calls, and pass protection schemes. While there were minor hiccups during his first practice, Reid expressed that the new lineman performed well overall and is integrating into the team's offensive line rotation.
