Mahomes' Health: Chiefs' 2026 Schedule Hints at QB Return

Despite not making the playoffs in 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs have been designated for six primetime games in the upcoming 2026 NFL season, indicating their strong league appeal. Their schedule kicks off with two highly anticipated night games, including a home opener against the Broncos on Monday night and a Week 2 Sunday night matchup at Arrowhead Stadium. This scheduling implies optimism regarding quarterback Patrick Mahomes' recovery from a torn ACL he suffered last season.

Head coach Andy Reid shared a positive outlook on Mahomes' progress, noting his diligent rehabilitation efforts. Reid mentioned that Mahomes is not adhering to a predetermined schedule but is focusing on daily progress. The team's cautious approach to player safety means Mahomes will only return when he is fully capable of taking care of himself on the field. The league will closely monitor his recovery, hoping for his return on a significant stage.
