Chelsea Nearing £35-40M Deal for Manchester United Outcast Garnacho
28 Aug
Summary
- Chelsea in advanced talks to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United
- Garnacho has not played for United since last season's Europa League final
- Deal could be reached for £35-40 million, lower than United's initial £50 million valuation

As of August 28th, 2025, Chelsea are in advanced negotiations to secure the permanent transfer of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 20-year-old Argentine international has not featured for United since the Europa League final in May, with a reported outburst over his substitute role marking the start of his exile from the club.
Garnacho, along with other members of United's "bomb squad," was left out of the club's pre-season activities and has been omitted from all three of their matchday squads so far this season. Chelsea initially showed interest in the winger back in January, and that interest has now resurfaced in the current summer transfer window, with Napoli and Saudi clubs also linked.
The Guardian reports that talks between Chelsea and United are now close to reaching a "compromise" over the transfer fee. United had previously valued Garnacho at £50 million, but the two clubs are now expected to settle on a deal in the range of £35-40 million. Chelsea view Garnacho as a greater priority target than Xavi Simons, with the Blues confident of concluding the transfer without first needing to offload Nicolas Jackson or Christopher Nkunku.
