Cycling Challenge Returns After Storm Cancellation
29 May
Summary
- Annual cycling challenge will resume in summer after a 2025 cancellation.
- Event on August 9th aims to raise thousands for Hope House Children's Hospices.
- Cyclists can choose routes of 56 or 70 miles, including mountain passes.

Hope House Children's Hospices' much-anticipated annual cycling challenge is scheduled to take place on August 9th, making a triumphant return after last year's event was cancelled. The storm, named Darragh, rendered the planned route impassable, forcing its postponement. This year's event aims to generate thousands of pounds to support children facing life-threatening conditions, allowing them to live their best lives.
Cyclists will embark from and return to the charity's base in Morda, Oswestry, with options for two distinct routes. A 56-mile course will lead participants to Lake Vyrnwy and back. For those seeking a greater challenge, a 70-mile route extends to Lake Bala, winding back through one of Wales' highest public road mountain passes.
In addition to the in-person event, a virtual challenge known as Cycle100 will run throughout August. Launched as an alternative to last year's cancelled event, participants in Cycle100 are tasked with raising £1 for every mile they cycle, whether individually, in a group, or on a spin bike.
