Tuli Tuipulotu, the Los Angeles Chargers' outside linebacker, is projected to command an annual salary exceeding $40 million following his breakout 2025 season, which earned him a Pro Bowl selection. Tuipulotu is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2026 and lacks a fifth-year option, making him a potential free agent in 2027. NFL contract expert Joel Corry suggests the Chargers may place him under the franchise tag for the 2027 season.

Corry anticipates that a long-term extension for Tuipulotu could cost the Chargers over $40 million annually, with projections placing his value at not less than $35 million per year. His performance in 2025, which included ranking among the league's top edge rushers, has significantly boosted his market value. If he continues this elite performance, his future contract could rival those of top edge defenders like Will Anderson and Micah Parsons.

The potential use of a franchise tag in 2027 would provide the Chargers with control over Tuipulotu's status for that season.
