The Boston Celtics are preparing to integrate Mitchell Robinson into their rotation, but his significant free-throw shooting deficiency presents a notable problem. Robinson's inability to convert free throws reliably has been a well-documented issue, even leading the Celtics to employ the 'hack-a-Shaq' tactic against him in past seasons when he played for the Knicks.

This strategy involved intentionally fouling Robinson, gambling on his missed free throws rather than risking easier points. While effective at times, it slowed the game considerably. Robinson's performance last season was particularly poor, hitting a career-worst 40.8% from the charity stripe. The Celtics recognize this weakness and will need to dedicate resources to help him improve, ideally to a respectable mid-to-high 60% range, to avoid continued exploitation by opponents.
