Celtic Secures Cvancara: €9m Deal Looms
22 Jan
Summary
- Celtic to pay €1m salary for Cvancara's loan spell.
- Permanent transfer option for Tomas Cvancara is €8m.
- Cvancara joins Celtic from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Celtic has reached an agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach for the loan of Tomas Cvancara, with an option to sign him permanently. The Bhoys will reportedly cover the Czech Republic international's €1 million salary for the rest of the season. Should Celtic wish to keep the 25-year-old forward beyond his loan spell, a further €8 million fee would be required. Cvancara's career has stalled since his move from Sparta Prague in 2023, with injuries and a lack of form impacting his time at Monchengladbach and a subsequent loan to Antalyaspor. He managed only one goal in eleven appearances for the Turkish club before his loan was cut short due to a wage dispute. Celtic aims to integrate Cvancara into their squad swiftly, potentially debuting him against Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday. His arrival is intended to bolster O'Neill's attacking options as Celtic strives to close the six-point gap on Hearts and challenge for the Scottish Premiership title, while fending off a resurgent Rangers.
