Taylor's Return? Celtic Eye Shock Reunion
30 Jul
Summary
- Greg Taylor may return to Celtic after leaving last summer.
- New PAOK coach doesn't see Taylor in his long-term plans.
- Celtic seeks left-back cover for Kieran Tierney.
Reports indicate a potential surprise return for left-back Greg Taylor to Celtic. The 28-year-old Scottish international left Celtic Park last summer to join PAOK in Greece. However, his time in Greece has been brief and uncertain following changes at the club.
Taylor was notably absent from PAOK's recent Europa League qualifier squad, with his absence initially cited as personal. Subsequent reports from Greece suggest that the new head coach, Alessio Lisci, does not view Taylor as part of his future plans. This development has led to speculation about his next move.
Celtic are reportedly assessing the possibility of re-signing Taylor. The club is looking to strengthen their left-back position, providing competition and cover for Kieran Tierney. Taylor's departure last summer was influenced by Tierney's return to Celtic, as he sought regular first-team football elsewhere.
During his tenure at PAOK, Taylor made 18 appearances, often serving as an understudy. The departure of former manager Razvan Lucescu is thought to have impacted Taylor's standing within the team. With Marcelo Saracchi not returning, Celtic remains active in the transfer market for a left-back.
