Mize's Best Work? Tigers Pitcher Shows Career-Defining Form

Detroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize is currently experiencing a career-best stretch of performances, marked by remarkable consistency and effectiveness.

In a significant milestone, Mize has achieved his first career three-start span with two or fewer earned runs allowed. This includes strong outings against the Miami Marlins, Boston Red Sox, and Milwaukee Brewers, accumulating 18 1/3 innings with only two earned runs.

Mize's improved performance is further evidenced by a career-high 27.5% whiff rate, indicating his enhanced ability to generate swings and misses. He has struck out 19 batters over his last three appearances, and his ERA has dropped to 2.51 through five starts this season.

As Mize enters a contract year, his success is vital for the Tigers' championship aspirations. Manager A.J. Hinch noted Mize's even-keeled focus and ability to execute his plan against diverse lineups, highlighting his multi-pitch effectiveness.

His command of the four-seam fastball and splitter, combined with a deceptive slider, makes him a formidable opponent. This holistic pitching approach, challenging hitters with multiple offerings, marks a significant evolution in his game.
