- He is part of a dominant men's team pursuit trio.

Speed skater Casey Dawson has withdrawn from the 10,000m race scheduled for Friday. Dawson, the only American to qualify for this event, made the decision to prioritize the team pursuit and 1500m races at the upcoming Olympic Games. This strategic choice was anticipated by his coaching staff.
Dawson, who made his Olympic debut, is a pivotal member of the U.S. men's team pursuit. This trio has achieved significant success, including three world records, five consecutive World Cup season titles, an Olympic bronze medal, and a world championship gold. They entered the Milan Cortina Games on a six-race winning streak.
In individual events, Dawson has emerged as a strong medal contender. Since January 27, 2025, he has set three new U.S. records in the 5000m, and one each in the 3000m and 10,000m. His 10,000m record shattered a 20-year-old mark. He also secured his first individual World Cup podium with a gold in the 5000m.
The men's 10,000m race is set to begin at 10 a.m. E.T. in Milan. Dawson is scheduled to compete next with his team pursuit teammates on Sunday, February 15th, for the qualifying round, followed by the 1500m on Thursday, February 19th.
