Carragher: Delap's Chelsea Move Was a Mistake
13 Feb
Summary
- Jamie Carragher believes Liam Delap made a poor decision joining Chelsea.
- Delap's £30 million transfer from Ipswich has yielded only two goals.
- Carragher suggests Everton would have been a better club for Delap.

Jamie Carragher has expressed that Liam Delap's transfer to Chelsea for £30 million last summer was a misstep. Delap, who scored 12 Premier League goals for Ipswich the previous season, has found his time at Chelsea challenging.
Since his arrival, the 23-year-old forward has managed only two goals and one assist in 23 appearances across all competitions. Injuries and inconsistent form have limited his playing time under both Enzo Maresca and current coach Liam Rosenior, with only nine starts in 17 Premier League matches this calendar year.
Carragher recommended that Delap should have opted for a mid-table Premier League side like Everton. He believes playing regularly for such a club would have been more beneficial for his development than the limited opportunities at Chelsea, who are currently fifth in the league.
