He spent his initial four years with the Indianapolis Colts, where he achieved a career-high 151 tackles in 2022. He then signed with the New York Giants in 2023, averaging 128 tackles per season over three years before his release in March for cost-saving reasons.
The Panthers' linebacker group now features Okereke alongside Devin Lloyd, whom the team acquired in a major offseason move, and who earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2025. Okereke's presence is expected to elevate the competition for the second starting linebacker role, which also includes Trevin Wallace and Claudin Cherelus.
