Calgary Flames fans have reason to be excited about 19-year-old Ethan Wyttenbach, selected 144th overall in the fifth round of the 2025 NHL Draft. Wyttenbach recently concluded his freshman season at Quinnipiac University, where he led the entire NCAA in scoring with an impressive 59 points in 40 games, including 25 goals and 34 assists. His stellar performance continued at the World Junior Summer Showcase, where he led the event in scoring with 12 points over six games. Despite his outstanding collegiate achievements, Wyttenbach was a Hobey Baker finalist, narrowly losing the award for top college player to Max Plante. He is considered a strong candidate to make his U20 debut at the upcoming World Junior Championship in Alberta, playing in front of potential future home crowds. Wyttenbach participated in the Flames' prospect camp and is expected at training camp. While a long shot for the NHL roster this season, he will return to the NCAA for the 2026-27 season to further hone his skills as he aims for a role with the Calgary Flames.
