Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks, initially a strong prospect for the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the NFL draft, now faces an uncertain future due to a significant injury. Banks suffered a broken foot at the NFL combine in Indianapolis and is not expected to be cleared for football activities until June. This development comes after he was already limited to three games last season due to a previous foot injury that he sustained in fall camp and re-aggravated early in the season.

This latest injury presents a dual perspective for the Vikings. On one hand, it could mean a highly talented player is available later in the first round. Banks' performance at the Senior Bowl and combine, despite his injury, showed his potential as a game-wrecker. However, two serious foot injuries within the last eight months for a player of his size, whose game relies on explosive power, is a considerable risk. Banks' ability to still perform well at the combine after breaking his foot highlights his determination.
