BYU's football program is set to benefit from its most successful recruiting class to date. The 2026 recruiting class has earned a national ranking of No. 21 by 247Sports, placing them second within the Big 12 conference. This impressive group of 21 high school players, all signed in December, has been further bolstered by the addition of nine transfer portal players.
Eight returned missionaries are now joining the program as midyear enrollees, ready to contribute to the upcoming season. This influx of talent includes players across various positions, with defensive coordinator Kelly Poppinga highlighting the significant pickup of transfer linebacker Cade Uluave. The team also announced several coaching staff adjustments, including promotions and new hires, aimed at strengthening the program's future.
Coach Kalani Sitake expressed excitement about the team's current momentum, particularly following January's intensive weight room and conditioning sessions. He anticipates that all eight returned missionaries will be ready to compete this fall, with spring practices beginning February 27. The coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick, also provided insights into player development and roster management, emphasizing continuous evaluation for potential additions.
