Busan Hosts International Tennis Showdown

The Busan Open International Men's Challenger Tennis Tournament is scheduled from May 12 to May 19 at Geumjeong Sports Park Tennis Court. This event will host around 80 players representing over 30 countries, with qualifiers beginning May 12 and 13, and the main draw commencing on May 14. The tournament boasts a total prize fund of $225,000, concluding with the final match on the afternoon of May 19.

Organizers have announced that qualifier matches will be accessible free of charge, while tickets for the main draw matches will need to be reserved online. Notable participants include Korean Davis Cup team members Kwon Soon-woo, Park Ui-sung, and Nam Ji-sung, alongside international talents James Duckworth and Bernard Tomic. This tournament is positioned as Korea's highest-level Challenger 125 event.

Busan Metropolitan City aims to enhance its reputation as a global sports hub through this event, providing residents with an opportunity to witness international-level sports. The tournament, which evolved from a domestic event in 1999 to an international one in 2003, is co-hosted by the ATP Tour and the Korea Tennis Association.

The next significant milestones are the opening qualifiers on May 12 and 13, followed by the main draw progression from May 14 to May 19. The tournament's conclusion on May 19 will shift focus to the players expected to reach the final stages.
