Rookie linebacker Josiah Trotter has quickly become a significant defensive force for the Buccaneers. Despite missing one game due to a shoulder sprain, Trotter leads the team in tackles and allowed passer rating, and is tied for the lead in tackles for loss and interceptions. His veteran-like energy and relentless pursuit have impressed veteran teammate Alex Anzalone, who notes Trotter's presence on every play.
Trotter's style, influenced by his NFL father, emphasizes playing fast and physical, even if it means making occasional mistakes. While he is still learning the intricacies of the defensive scheme, his speed and ferocity allow him to recover and make impactful plays. The upcoming game against the Steelers will be a key test for the Bucs' strong run defense, particularly against running back Jaylen Warren.
Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, known for his historical struggles against the Buccaneers, will also face a formidable challenge. Trotter emphasized the need to disrupt Rodgers' rhythm and prevent him from settling into a comfortable passing rhythm. The synergy between Trotter and veteran Alex Anzalone, with Anzalone handling communication, allows Trotter to focus on his assignment and play at his full potential.
