The 21-year-old midfielder has been a standout performer for the Hammers this season, despite their struggles in the relegation zone with only seven games remaining.
Mateus Fernandes joined West Ham from Southampton last summer and has rapidly established himself as one of the top flight's most promising young midfielders. His impressive form recently earned him his first call-up to the Portugal national team during the March international break. During this period, he had the invaluable experience of training alongside his role model and namesake, Bruno Fernandes.
