Browns TE Enters NCAA Portal After Legal Win

Cleveland Browns tight end Dae'Quan Wright has entered the NCAA transfer portal, a move enabled by a federal judge's ruling on Wednesday night. This judicial decision granted Wright, along with 15 other former college football players, an additional year of NCAA eligibility.

Wright, who was a significant contributor to Ole Miss's College Football Playoff semifinal team last season, is among seven football players from the lawsuit to enter the portal. He is the only one currently participating in an NFL training camp. The ruling stems from a lawsuit filed by athletes seeking extended eligibility, with a court date set for August 31.

Wright recorded 39 catches for 635 yards and five touchdowns for Ole Miss in 2025. Over his collegiate career with Ole Miss and Virginia Tech, he amassed 113 receptions for 1,603 yards and nine touchdowns. He signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 draft.

Other notable players, including defensive lineman Zxavian Harris (also formerly of Ole Miss), have also entered the portal under the terms of the temporary restraining order. The NCAA is reportedly appealing this ruling, which follows a similar decision in Colorado granting extra eligibility to high school athletes.
