Browns Draft Plan: Shield Sanders, Unleash Speed
23 Jan
Summary
- Browns aim to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders with top draft picks.
- Utah tackle Spencer Fano is projected to anchor the offensive line.
- Georgia receiver Zachariah Branch brings game-breaking speed to Cleveland.
The Cleveland Browns are poised to significantly upgrade their offense in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, armed with two first-round selections. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. suggests a two-pronged approach: securing the offensive line and injecting explosive playmaking.
With the sixth overall pick, Kiper projects the Browns will select Utah's versatile tackle, Spencer Fano. Fano, known for his impressive pass-blocking record, is seen as a foundational piece to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
The Browns' second first-round pick, acquired from Jacksonville and slotted at No. 24, is earmarked for Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch. Branch's elite speed and ability to create separation are expected to revitalize a receiving unit that struggled significantly in the previous season, offering a much-needed vertical threat and return game specialist.
