Brothers Alfie and Joe Pritchard are set to embark on a monumental fundraising challenge, a two-man relay run covering 837 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End. This ambitious feat will commence on May 18, with the duo aiming to set a new record for the fastest two-person relay on this route. Their strategy involves continuous running, with one brother always active while the other rests or sleeps, targeting completion in under eight days.
Ahead of their challenge, the brothers underwent rigorous physical testing at the University of Worcester. This analysis, including their oxygen uptake and energy utilization, confirmed they are in excellent physical condition. The Pritchards, who co-founded the clothing company Mile Pie, are dedicating 25% of their profits to charity. Their goal is to raise £10,000 for Help the Heroes, a charity supporting veterans and their families across the UK.
This marks the brothers' fifth fundraising initiative. Previously, Joe, 24, completed a 24-hour treadmill run for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. Dr. Matthew Cook, who led the testing, emphasized the scientific value of the data gathered, aiding in training and recovery strategies for the athletes. The brothers are inspired by the sacrifices of veterans and are eager for public support during their run through major cities.
