Courtland Sutton recently posted a video on Instagram with the caption 'Chapter closed,' prompting fan speculation about his potential departure from the Denver Broncos. However, this is unlikely given Sutton signed a four-year, $92 million contract extension just last summer, with $41 million guaranteed.

Sutton achieved his third career 1,000-yard receiving season in the past year, contributing to the Broncos' 14-win AFC West championship. His productive partnership with quarterback Bo Nix, who arrived before the past season, has been instrumental. Sutton has surpassed 1,000 yards receiving in both seasons with Nix as his quarterback, a feat he had only achieved once prior.

Despite his strong performance, Sutton's season was marked by an issue with dropped passes, which also affected the Broncos as a team, who had the second-most drops in the league. Coach Sean Payton responded by firing wide receivers coach Keary Colbert, signaling a focus on improving this area.

The Broncos continue to invest in the wide receiver position, drafting at least one player annually for the past three years, with Marvin Mims Jr. being a notable second-round pick. Mims, an impactful player and a two-time All-Pro punt returner, is currently fourth on the depth chart, though his role may expand.

The team is seeking a receiver to complement Sutton and provide another explosive option for Bo Nix. They are expected to scout for such talent in the 2026 NFL draft and explore the free-agent market.
