Broncos Target WR2: Pierce for Nix's Arsenal?
3 Feb
Summary
- Broncos need a No. 2 receiver to support QB Bo Nix.
- ESPN suggests signing free agent receiver Alec Pierce.
- Pierce offers blocking and contested catch ability.
The Denver Broncos are prioritizing acquiring a No. 2 wide receiver this offseason to complement star quarterback Bo Nix. Despite a strong showing that nearly led to a Super Bowl appearance, the team recognized a lack of offensive weapons, particularly at receiver.
ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz has proposed that the Broncos target free agent Alec Pierce, formerly of the Colts. Schatz highlights Pierce's physical presence, blocking skills, and proficiency in making contested catches downfield as qualities that would suit Nix and coach Sean Payton's system.
Piers's estimated market value is $20.2 million APY, a figure considered manageable for the Broncos. Adding Pierce would provide Nix with two legitimate outside threats, potentially enhancing Denver's offensive capabilities significantly in the upcoming season.
