Brewers' Star Catcher Contreras Demands Bigger Deal
28 Oct
Summary
- Contreras contract talks appear stalled as he seeks a larger deal.
- The Brewers offered a multi-year deal, which Contreras rejected.
- He is in his walk year, with his future beyond 2025 uncertain.
The Milwaukee Brewers face potential loss of star catcher William Contreras beyond his walk year in 2025. Recent contract extension talks have reportedly stalled, with Contreras seeking a much more lucrative deal than what the Brewers initially offered. This situation echoes previous departures of key players from the team due to financial disagreements.
Sources indicate the Brewers made a multi-year offer, potentially including guaranteed years and an option, but Contreras' side did not deem it worthy of a counteroffer. Contreras, a valuable talent known for his exceptional game-calling and recent strong performance, is in high demand. His future with the team remains uncertain as negotiations continue without a clear resolution.
