As the SA20 Season 4 auction approaches on September 9, 2025, MI Cape Town opener Ryan Rickelton has predicted that Dewald Brevis will be the headline contender. Brevis has enjoyed a remarkable 2025, scoring 995 runs in T20s at an average of 43.26 and a strike rate of 186, including a hundred and six fifties.
Brevis' standout performance came in a T20I against Australia last month, where he blasted 125 off just 56 balls, the second-fastest T20I ton by a South African and their highest individual score in the format. He also made waves in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings, scoring 225 runs in just six matches at a strike rate of 180.
At MI Cape Town, Brevis registered 291 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 184 during their title-winning campaign earlier this year. Rickelton himself has been SA20's most consistent batter, topping the all-time charts with 1,012 runs and five half-centuries in Season 2 alone. He said his role is to provide a solid platform for Cape Town's explosive lower order.
The defending champions will kick off Season 4 against Durban's Super Giants on December 26, 2025, at Newlands -- a festive-season clash expected to showcase Brevis, Rickelton, and other marquee stars.
