Bangladesh Cricketers Resume BPL Play After Protest
17 Jan
Summary
- Cricketers ended their BPL boycott after reaching an agreement with the BCB.
- A BCB director was removed from his finance committee post.
- Scheduled BPL T20 matches will now resume as planned.

Bangladesh's cricketers have called off their boycott of the BPL T20 matches after reaching an agreement with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). This consensus allows the scheduled tournament games to proceed as planned. The protest began earlier this week when senior players expressed their displeasure over remarks made by a BCB director.
In response to the players' concerns, the BCB took swift action by removing the director, Najmul Islam, from his position on the finance committee. This move appears to have de-escalated the situation, leading the Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) to announce the end of the boycott.
Two BPL matches that were postponed on Thursday are now being played on Friday. The CWAB president stated that compromises were made for the greater interest of the game, with assurances that demands would be addressed promptly by the BCB.
