BPL 2025-26 Kicks Off: New Era, New Teams!
26 Dec, 2025
Summary
- Six teams now compete in the expanded BPL 2025-26 season.
- A full player auction returns for the first time in 12 years.
- Pakistani cricketers add international flair despite potential absences.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26 season officially begins today, December 26, marking a significant expansion with four new franchises joining the competition. This revamped league now features six teams, including newcomers Chattogram Royals, Noakhali Express, Sylhet Titans, and Rajshahi Warriors, alongside Dhaka Capitals and Rangpur Riders.
A major draw for the 2025-26 season is the revival of a full-scale player auction, last held 12 years ago, which took place in November. The tournament will span 28 days, comprising 34 matches across three venues: Sylhet, Chattogram, and Mirpur. The final is scheduled for January 23.
Pakistani cricketers, including prominent names like Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, are set to bolster squads. Despite receiving No Objection Certificates until January 23, their participation in the latter stages might be impacted by Pakistan's international fixtures against Sri Lanka and Australia.
