Bo Bichette Switches Positions, Skips WBC

Bo Bichette has withdrawn his name from the 2026 World Baseball Classic roster for Team Brazil. This decision follows his signing of a substantial three-year, $126 million contract with the New York Mets. The new contract includes a requirement for Bichette to transition from shortstop to third base, a position already occupied by teammate Francisco Lindor.

This shift in responsibility means Bichette will forgo playing in the WBC alongside his brother, Dante Bichette Jr. Instead, he is dedicating his time to Spring Training with the Mets, focusing on adapting to his new defensive position. While a disappointment for the Brazilian team, Bichette prioritizes his commitment and development with his new club.
