Prior to the assignment, coach Jeff Blashill commented on Lardis's performance, stating that the young forward had done a solid job and improved his confidence. Lardis was selected by Chicago in the third round of the 2023 draft. He had a prolific season last year in the Ontario Hockey League, scoring 71 goals and adding 46 assists in 65 games.
This player movement occurs as the Blackhawks anticipate the return of veteran forward Teuvo Teravainen, who has been sidelined with an upper-body injury since January 12th. Teravainen is expected to be back in the lineup for the team's upcoming game.
