Texas runner Carrie Bradshaw, also known as the 'Bionic Runner Babe,' has achieved a remarkable feat by breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon with bilateral hip replacements in females. This accomplishment comes after a challenging journey, having been diagnosed with congenital bilateral hip dysplasia in 2021 and told by numerous surgeons that running would be impossible.
Following hip replacement surgeries in 2022 and 2023, Bradshaw has now completed two marathons. Her most recent triumph was at the Houston Marathon in January, where she finished in 3 hours, 42 minutes, and 31 seconds. This time officially earned her the world record status, confirmed on March 9.
Bradshaw views this record not just as a finish time but as the culmination of a four-year battle to recover her spirit. She deeply credits Dr. Gregory Stocks for his unwavering belief in her ability to run again, even before she believed it herself.
Prior to her hip surgeries, Bradshaw had an impressive running history, completing over 60 half marathons and 10 marathons. She now aims to surpass her previous personal record and is training for the 2027 Boston Marathon, having already run it in 2025 just two years post-replacement.
Her journey has been further supported by coach Meb Keflezighi, an Olympic medalist. Bradshaw will be participating in the New York City Marathon in November as part of Keflezighi's foundation, Team Meb, marking another significant milestone in her running comeback.
