Billy Horschel, an eight-time PGA Tour winner, found himself in a contentious situation with spectators at the Cognizant Classic. After a difficult tee shot on the 15th hole, Horschel engaged in a verbal back-and-forth with fans who were heckling him.

The conflict originated from Horschel's recent remarks about PGA National's course conditions, specifically its overseeding practices. He had previously tweeted that the PGA Tour had advised against overseeding, but the course owners proceeded regardless. This led some spectators to believe he was criticizing the course itself.

Horschel clarified that his intention was not to disparage the golf course, which he has long praised. He stated that he merely wanted to correct a spectator's misunderstanding of the situation. Following the incident, security removed the disruptive fan.

Despite the fan's ejection, Horschel ultimately made a triple-bogey 6 on the hole and added two more bogeys to finish his round. He asserted that external factors like fan behavior do not affect his performance, emphasizing his own role in his game.
