Bihar Athletes Rewarded With Government Jobs

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary distributed appointment letters to 19 athletes on Friday, marking a significant advancement for sports recognition in the state. The 'Medal Lao Naukri Pao' policy offers direct government employment, including positions such as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Sub-Inspector, to individuals who achieve national and international sporting success. This initiative bypasses the need for traditional competitive examinations for these roles, directly rewarding athletic merit.

This policy has already benefited notable athletes, including cricketers Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar, who were appointed as DSPs. Bihar Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh highlighted the scheme as a milestone, emphasizing its role in securing athletes' futures and promoting amateur sports. The state government plans to expand sports infrastructure and development programs, aiming to potentially nurture talent for future Olympic Games.
