Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been selected for India's T20I squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, ending a four-year hiatus from international cricket. His last T20I appearance was against New Zealand on November 22, 2022, at McLean Park in Napier, the same venue where he is set to make his return. The decision was confirmed during a selection meeting in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The 40-day tour, commencing on October 22, features an extensive schedule of five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Test matches. The T20I series begins in Christchurch, with matches also scheduled for Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton. This tour represents India's first Test assignment in New Zealand since 2019.
Alongside the senior T20I squad, the India A team was also announced for a series of three four-day matches against New Zealand A, starting October 24. The ODI and Test squads for the senior team are yet to be announced. The Test matches in Wellington and Christchurch are crucial for ICC World Test Championship qualification.
