Bengals Sign Sean Clifford to Future Contract

The Cincinnati Bengals initiated their offseason with several standard transactions, including the signing of quarterback Sean Clifford to a reserve/future contract. This move ensures Clifford remains with the team through the offseason program after concluding the recent season on the practice squad.

Clifford, a former standout at Penn State, joined the Bengals midseason after an injury to their starting quarterback. The team's strategic focus remains on maintaining the health and morale of Joe Burrow, aiming to cultivate a strong supporting quarterback unit. While Joe Flacco's future with the team is uncertain, Jake Browning remains part of the quarterback depth.

Clifford's potential to secure a roster spot, possibly as the third-string quarterback, is still to be determined. His retention is seen as a positive step, particularly as he outlasted another quarterback signed midseason. Clifford now has an opportunity to impress during the offseason and solidify his NFL career with the Bengals.
