Bears Re-sign Braxton Jones to 1-Year Deal
10 Mar
Summary
- Braxton Jones re-signed for one year, $10 million.
- Contract includes $5 million base and $5 million incentives.
- Jones aims to protect Caleb Williams' blindside.

The Chicago Bears have secured their left tackle position by re-signing Braxton Jones to a one-year contract valued at $10 million. This deal comprises a $5 million base salary and an additional $5 million available through incentives. Jones, who began the 2025 regular season as the starter, is aiming for a strong recovery from a severe ankle injury sustained in October 2025.
The team activated Jones from injured reserve in January 2026, though he was not ready to play in the Divisional playoff game. The hope is that he is now fully recovered and ready to protect quarterback Caleb Williams' blindside, especially with current tackle Ozzy Trapilo recovering from his own injury. This signing allows the Bears to retain a seasoned veteran while still exploring competition at the position.
The projected offensive line for the Bears now includes Braxton Jones at left tackle, Joe Thuney at left guard, Garrett Bradbury at center, Jonah Jackson at right guard, and Darnell Wright at right tackle. With significant portions of free agency and the upcoming draft remaining, the Bears may still add further competition to their offensive line, demonstrating sound cap management.
