Bears' Prized Offseason Signing Jarrett Struggles to Impress
19 Oct, 2025
Summary
- Jarrett signed 3-year, $43.5M contract to bolster Bears' defense
- Jarrett has just 4 tackles and 55.7 PFF grade in 3 games
- Bears need Jarrett to step up and deliver on championship promise

In the offseason leading up to the 2025 NFL season, the Chicago Bears made a significant investment in their defense by signing former Atlanta Falcon Akiem Jarrett to a 3-year, $43.5 million contract. The Bears were hoping Jarrett would become a key part of their defensive unit and help the team compete for a championship.
However, three games into the 2025 season, Jarrett's performance has been far from impressive. Through those three outings, the defensive lineman has recorded just 4 total tackles and earned a 55.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking him 117th out of 192 qualified defensive linemen.
The Bears are counting on Jarrett to be a leader on their defense, but he has yet to live up to the lofty expectations set when he joined the team. "Being a part of something that is going to start here special," Jarrett said when he signed with the Bears. "Me being somebody who wants to be in a position to compete for championships, encourage younger guys around me, and really share my experience and my hunger for greatness to others who want to achieve it."
With the Bears' defense struggling to generate consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks, the team was hoping Jarrett would help turn things around. However, it appears they will have to wait at least another week before seeing the impact they expected from their prized offseason acquisition.
