During Monday's series opener, an unusual and heartwarming moment unfolded on the baseball field. Boston Red Sox pitcher Payton Tolle surprised spectators by hugging Seattle Mariners' designated hitter Dominic Canzone after a routine groundout.

The incident occurred in the top of the third inning with the Mariners trailing. Canzone made weak contact on a pitch, sending a dribbler back towards Tolle. Rather than making a play at first base, the second-year pitcher extended his arms for a hug, which Canzone reciprocated.
