- Barefoot running requires significant mental and physical endurance.

Prakash Lamba, an assistant manager at HSIIDC and resident of Sector 31, Gurugram, has achieved an extraordinary feat by completing a 100-kilometer ultramarathon barefoot. He traversed the challenging Aravalli range trails in Manesar, a feat accomplished without conventional running gear, distinguishing him among participants.
Lamba, who began his running career in 2018 at 35, found ultramarathons a path out of depression following the loss of his eldest daughter in October 2025. His determination is celebrated by HSIIDC colleagues, who are planning an in-house recognition event.
The barefoot ultramarathon, held on rugged rural terrain from Panchgaon to Manesar, served as a profound mental and physical test. Lamba, a former clerk who transformed into a fitness influencer, emphasized the need for gradual progression in barefoot running, recommending practice in safer environments like parks.
To qualify for this event, Lamba participated in numerous marathons nationwide, including a 220km run in Bengaluru in July 2024. He advocates for minimalist ultra running, noting its growing appeal among endurance athletes in Gurugram despite limited salaries or prior running backgrounds.
