Barcelona Manager Suspended for Champions League Opener

According to reports, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is set to be suspended from the touchline for one game in the 2025-26 Champions League season. The suspension comes after Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg were found guilty of breaching UEFA's disciplinary regulations last season.
Flick and Sorg were deemed to have violated basic rules of decency and conduct by insulting or protesting against match officials during Barcelona's semi-final defeat to Inter Milan in the 2024-25 Champions League. The German manager is said to have insulted the officials after his side's heartbreaking 4-3 loss at the San Siro, which eliminated Barcelona from the competition.
In addition to the one-game suspension, Flick and Sorg have also been slapped with a fine of €20,000 each. The sanctions will take effect immediately, meaning Flick will miss his team's first Champions League game of the upcoming season.
Despite the setback, Barcelona have received a boost ahead of their upcoming Gamper Trophy final against Como. Former Manchester City player Ferran Torres has returned to training and is expected to be available for the match on August 10th.
