FC Barcelona has officially declared its intention to bid for the hosting rights of the 2029 UEFA Champions League final. The bid centers on the newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou, with support from the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia. Initial application documents have been submitted to UEFA for assessment.
The club aims to showcase the upgraded Spotify Camp Nou, which reopened in November 2025 following a two-year renovation. The stadium is currently expanding its capacity, planning to accommodate 62,000 fans by next month and reaching its full potential of 105,000 fans later this year. This modernised venue seeks to replicate Camp Nou's past hosting of two Champions League finals.
While Barcelona is vying for the 2029 final, London's iconic Wembley Stadium is also a strong contender. The formal submission of Barcelona's complete candidacy dossier is anticipated in early June 2026.
