This Sunday marks the 35th anniversary of the Austin Marathon, an event anticipated to shatter previous records for both participants and spectators. Over 30,000 runners and 100,000 attendees are expected to converge on the streets of Austin.
The marathon, which began in 1992, celebrates culture and community, offering full marathon, half marathon, and 5K options. For those unable to attend in person, the entire race will be available for free live streaming on FloTrack and the FloSports app, beginning at 7 a.m. CT and concluding at 2:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, February 15th.
Elite athletes will compete for a total prize pool of $20,000. The winners of the men's and women's divisions will each receive $1,000, with additional prizes for the top five finishers.
The scenic route starts downtown at 2nd and Congress, winding through various city neighborhoods before culminating at the Texas Capitol Building.
